Our Story

The KC Dollar Program was founded in 2023 with the goal of creating a more efficient, secure, and socially conscious way to transact in the city. Supported by over 10 years of study on decades of research in community currencies, we believe that by introducing a localized stablecoin, we can help to increase financial inclusion, keep money local, and revitalize our communities one transaction at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get the answers to our most common questions in this section.

How can money be redeemed once I want to cash out of $KCD?

To cash out of $KCD, users have multiple options available. They can redeem their funds directly through the mobile wallet app, facilitating seamless transactions. Alternatively, users can swap $KCD for other cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies through decentralized exchanges or online platforms partnered with our service.

What is a DAO and how will $KCD utilize it?

A DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) is a self-governing entity represented by smart contracts on a blockchain. $KCD utilizes a DAO for transparent governance, treasury management, and community engagement, enabling stakeholders to collectively shape the future of the localized currency.

Why utilized blockchain technology?

Blockchain technology is utilized for $KCD to ensure transparency, security, and decentralization. Unlike paper versions of local currencies, blockchain provides immutable records of transactions, reducing inefficiencies and risks associated with traditional systems. With faster transactions and lower costs, $KCD empowers users while promoting financial inclusion within the Kansas City community

How will merchants be able to accept $KCD as payment?

Merchants will be able to accept $KCD as payment through various means, such as integrating our digital wallet that supports $KCD transactions or using our partnered point-of-sale systems equipped to process payments in the localized currency.
